Operational Controller

Your mission
As Operational Controller, you will be a key performance partner to our Chief Operations Officer (COO) and the global operations leadership team. Based in Mezzago, Italy, with responsibility across multiple international production sites, you will drive operational transparency, performance improvement, and cost discipline throughout our global manufacturing network.

Your role is to identify inefficiencies, uncover root causes, and translate operational data into clear insights, concrete actions, and measurable results. You will play a central role in strengthening Operational Excellence, standardizing KPIs, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across all sites.

Key Responsibilities: 

Performance Partnering & Operational Transparency
  • Act as a trusted sparring partner to the COO, plant managers, and operations leaders on performance, efficiency, cost, and improvement topics
  • Establish and continuously improve standardized operational KPIs, reporting structures, and controlling processes across all production sites
  • Prepare concise, decision-oriented management reports and presentations for the executive team

Operational Performance Management & Improvement
  • Identify slow, inefficient, or error-prone processes and proactively propose data-driven improvement measures
  • Analyze, harmonize, and continuously optimize global operational KPIs, including productivity, throughput, scrap, rework, lead time, and capacity utilization
  • Identify cost drivers, operational risks, and performance gaps across the global production network

Continuous Improvement & Operational Controlling
  • Challenge and support plant managers with clear analyses, insights, and actionable recommendations
  • Support global Lean and Continuous Improvement initiatives with robust performance tracking
  • Monitor production performance, margins, variances, and inventory levels; analyze deviations and explain root causes at group level
  • Support global budgeting, forecasting, and long-term operational planning processes

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with production, procurement, logistics, quality, engineering, and group controlling teams worldwide to ensure alignment and execution excellence
Your profile
  • Degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Operations Management, Controlling, or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in operational controlling, operational excellence, or performance management within an international manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of production processes and operational KPIs across multiple sites
  • Proven ability to identify inefficiencies and translate complex data into clear, practical improvement actions
  • Strategic mindset combined with a hands-on, pragmatic approach
  • Excellent analytical skills with a strong business orientation
  • Advanced Excel skills and solid ERP experience (Microsoft Dynamics is a plus)
  • Fluent English is mandatory; German is an advantage
  • Willingness to travel internationally
  • Confident communicator with the ability to work effectively with senior management
